Funny Maid of Honor Speech - 3 Easy Steps for Success

So your best friend is tying the knot and you're the maid of honor. I know you've probably been avoiding it up till now, but the wedding is right around the corner, and you still haven't written that maid of honor wedding speech. Is that pretty much close to the truth? Don't panic. Here are 3 simple, quick tips to get your creative juices flowing: 1. On a blank piece of paper, just download all of your memories of funny or interesting stories or anecdotes concerning you and the bride. Don't worry about whether it's important or unimportant, or whether it will fit into the speech or not. Remember to include something about the groom too. How were you introduced to him? Are there any interesting stories concerning the three of you? 2. You'll probably find that once you start writing down memories without worrying about whether they will "fit" or not, more and more ideas will pop into your head. Now, all you have to do is pick and choose between them to see which ones have the best potential to be humorous or amusing. It's important to remember here that your speech doesn't have to be super long. You would be surprised at how much you can say in just 3 or 4 minutes, and if you let the speech ramble on for too long, people will get bored. 3. Now add humor. I know you're not a stand-up comic, but it's real easy to find one-liners. Just go on the internet and Google "wedding jokes" or "wedding one-liners" and you'll see pages and pages of them. Pick out a few good ones and apply them to your stories. It's easier than you think. These tips are just designed to "unblock" your writer's block.
